Positive Behaviour Support at Home with Families of Children with ASD &
Related Disabilities

Families with children on the autism spectrum face many challenges in everyday family situations. Often families become increasingly socially isolated because their child's behaviours make it very difficult to function positively in the home, let alone venture in the community. This workshop will introduce participants to a positive behaviour support (PBS) approach to supporting families of children with autism and related disabilities who engage in problem behaviour in the home and community. A collaborative, family-centred approach to conducting functional assessments and designing positive behaviour support plans will be described and illustrated.
