Volunteers
Do you have some spare time and abilities to share by volunteering with ACT?
We welcome volunteers. Here are some of the types of volunteer work we can offer you:
- Do you understand Autism Spectrum Disorders, read and write in English as well as read and write in another language? An important project for ACT is to provide more written information for families of children with ASD in languages other than English. If you have good knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and experience in translating written ‘plain language’ materials from English into another language we would welcome your assistance.
- Perhaps you aren’t a translator but if you understand autism spectrum disorders and read in another language you can to assist by proof reading translated materials to ensure they are in plain language and understandable for families who have newly diagnosed children.
- ACT welcomes volunteers from the communities where our workshops are held to work with us on the day of the workshop working at a registration table or doing some of the “fetch and carry jobs” that may be required.
- Sometimes ACT has office work available for volunteers at our Burnaby offices. This may include assisting in a special project like a mail out or preparation of workshop materials. This work is for short time periods on an irregular basis.
