Celebrate April Autism Awareness Month
- Focus on BC Research in Autism

Pre-Conference Workshop Thursday, April 22, 2010 – Taking the Stress Out of Mealtimes - Tackling Feeding Issues in Children with Autism
Presented by:
Lauren Binnendyk, Ph.D., BCBA-D
Coast Behaviour Analysts, Vancouver

The difference between a fussy eater and a child with a feeding disorder is the impact the eating behavior has on a child’s physical and social development, and on the family's well-being. For many families of children with ASD and other developmental disabilities, meal times are a source of enormous stress. This workshop will focus on providing research tested strategies for turning mealtimes nightmares into a time to enjoy. For over a decade, Dr. Binnendyk has focused her research and clinical work on supporting families of young children with developmental disabilities and severe food refusal behaviour. Her master’s thesis titled, “A Family Centered Positive Behavior Support Approach to the Amelioration of Food Refusal Behavior” is published in the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions. | View Details >
