Advocacy services available from the Representative for Children and Youth beginning April 1, 2007
On November 27, 2006 Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond was appointed Representative for Children and Youth for a five year term. The Representative for Children and Youth is accountable to the
legislature and does not report to any specific Ministry or political party allowing this office to
function independently.
Ms. Turpel-Lafond describes the mandate of the Representative for Children to include:
On April 1, 2007 the office of the BC Representative for Children and Youth will officially open to the public in three locations, Victoria, the Lower Mainland and Prince George. If you require advocacy as it pertains to services for your child you may contact any one of their offices. There is no cost for this service.
