Office of the Representative for Children and Youth, Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond

The Representative oversees the provincially-funded agencies responsible for delivering services and programs to children, youth and their families across B.C. Responsibilities of the Representative include advocating for children and youth, protecting their rights, and improving the system for the protection and support of children and youth, particularly those who are most vulnerable. The Representative doesn't work for the government. Rather, the Representative for Children and Youth is an independent office of the Legislature and does not report through a provincial ministry.

They also have an office in the Lower Mainland, and will soon have one in Prince George. The new website for children and youth "Talktotherep" is at www.talktotherep.ca/Content/Home.asp

Children and youth can call the Representative's office directly from anywhere in B.C. at
1-800-476-3933. The call is free. They can also ask the Rep questions online, and read questions that other young people have asked.
