About the Workshop:
Positive Behaviour Support has become a foundational approach to improving the lives of families who have children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. Dr. Joe Lucyshyn is a leading international researcher in the area of family centred positive behavioural support. He will provide a summary of a seven year study in which he and his research team worked with 10 families of children with developmental disabilities and severe problem behaviour and demonstrated success in developing constructive parent-child interaction in family routines.
The primary goals of this workshop are:
Through illustrative examples and small group exercises, participants will develop a basic understanding of how to analyze problematic behaviours within the family environment and how to develop a plan to address these behaviours. Throughout the workshop, emphasis will be on developing a truly collaborative parent-professional partnership in which science-based knowledge is weaved into the fabric of family life in ways that are effective, acceptable, feasible, and sustainable.
This workshop will be limited to 75 participants. Parents and professionals are welcomed.
