ACT - Autism Community Training (ACT) is a registered not for profit society that provides information and referral services to families of children with Autism Spectrum disorders as well as to para-professionals and professionals. Our mission is to provide excellent information and training, in accordance with international best practices. Our goal is to enable parents, professionals and para-professionals to support children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder to live productive, satisfying lives within their families and communities.

Replacement position of Information Assistant (July 2011 – August 2012) – .8 FTE (4-5 days weekly)

The Information Assistant responsibilities are comprised of two distinct working areas:

Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP) Administrative Support

The Information Assistant supports the work of the Manager by ensuring that all information gathered about RASP providers is filed and updated on a timely basis and that any information required about them is provided quickly and efficiently.

Family Resource Centre (FRC)/Information Support

The Information Assistant supports the Information Officers and Manager by researching, acquiring and classifying resources (print and web-based ranging from directory data to information documents), developing policies, procedures and information aides for the FRC, developing training materials for the information staff and helping families in the FRC. This position will support the development of an online search tool for resources.

Position Requirements - Education & Experience

  • Completion of a Library Technician diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in office related computer programs, website development and information databases
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and customer service orientation
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders
  • Understanding of the issues that parents face in accessing services
  • Strong team work skills
  • Well developed planning, organizing and decision making skills
  • Able to maintain confidentiality

Salary

Commensurate with experience
