The IDP program is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development and available to families who are concerned about their child’s development. Services offered are directed to supporting families who have children at risk for or with developmental delays and disabilities include:
- Home Visits
- Assessment and Program Planning – Assessment is often ongoing and decisions around program planning are done by the Parents and the IDP Consultant ogether in partnership.
- Liaison with other Families – Families are introduced to other families through group
- Liaison with other Professionals – IDP Consultants work closely with other community professionals who are also providing services to the family. This may include Speech Therapist, Occupational or physiotherapists.
- Other Services – i.e. Toy and book lending libraries, advocacy and specialized equipment loans
The goal of the IDP program is to help parents and family members to increase their knowledge of development and growth of their child and increase skills that will enable and empower families to encourage the development of their child.
