One of the questions people ask at our workshops is "how come we don't have books on topics relating to ASD available through our website?" Starting in September 2007, ACT began bringing a stock of appropriate titles to some of our local workshops. We did this partly as a service to the people at the workshop and as a fundraiser for ACT. The feedback we're getting says that we've been successful with both aims: people appreciate having a chance to learn about different books and appreciate knowing that ACT plows the profits from our book table right back into putting on more workshops--workshops on the subjects BC's Autism Community wants to hear about.
This page extends our book table to those unable to attend our Lower Mainland workshops. When you click on the link to buy one or more of these titles through Amazon.ca, you don't pay any extra but ACT earns a portion of the price you pay. Most importantly for you, you get the reassurance of knowing that the title you've chosen is one that ACT's staff, advisory council, expert presenters or client base recommends. We can't guarantee that any one of these books is perfect for any particular family's situation, but if they weren't good books we wouldn't be selling them.
So take a look at the list below. You'll probably recognise some of these names from our roster of workshop presenters, and others as resources that might have been mentioned during during presentations. If you decide you'd like to buy one, please click on the link from our website to Amazon to do it. You'll get a good book, and we'll earn a little part of it that we can put to use delivering more of our programs to the BC Autism Community.
