Evidence - based Practice in Sensory Processing Disorder: Subtypes, Assessment and Intervention Presented by: Lucy Jane Miller, Ph.D., O.T.R. Executive Director, Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) Foundation, Colorado View Registration Form (.pdf) About the Workshop Dr. Miller’s specialities include intervention for children and adults with Sensory Processing Disorder and related neurobehavioral disorders, and parent education related to raising a child with sensory and developmental issues. The major objective of this presentation is to update parents, providers, teachers and others on the evidence suggesting that occupational therapy with a sensory integration approach is effective. In order to accomplish this, characteristics of the three classic patterns of Sensory Processing Disorder will be explained. About the Presenter Dr. Lucy Jane Miller is the founder and executive director of the nonprofit Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation and of the STAR Centre, a treatment clinic co-located with the Foundation in Denver, Colorado. Her many achievements include developing nine nationally standardized assessments in use worldwide to diagnose developmental disorders and delays, and authored more than 50 peer- reviewed articles and chapters as well as Sensational Kids: Hope and Help for Children with Sensory Processing Disorder, the definitive book on SPD for parents and professionals.
