Day 1 – Improving Early Detection of Autism Spectrum Disorder in Infants and Toddlers
Learning Outcomes for Day 1 include “red flags” that distinguish infants and toddlers with ASD and describing a multistage process to improve screening and early diagnosis of ASD.

Day 2 – Developmentally Appropriate, Evidence-Based Intervention for Young Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder: What are the Active Ingredients?

Learning Outcomes for Day 2 include characteristics of effective educational programs for children with ASD and intervention strategies to embed transactional supports to promote active engagement for young children with ASD in natural learning environments.

This two-day presentation brings the latest information and research on the challenges of achieving a reliable diagnosis to identify ASD in very young children. It will focus on what we know about providing developmentally - appropriate and evidence-based intervention for children under three. Dr. Wetherby has thirty years clinical experience and presents internationally on early detection and intervention in autism. She is also the Principal Investigator of an early treatment study teaching parents of toddlers with ASD how to support social communication and play. Her research is funded by Autism Speaks and the National Institute of Mental Health.
