Dr. Barry Prizant, has had 40 years experience working with young children with social communication disabilities, including ASD, and their families.

Internationally recognized for his outstanding research and contributions to autism treatment, Dr. Prizant is the Director of Childhood Communication Services, Adjunct Professor in the Center for the Study of Human Development at Brown University, Rhode Island.

The SCERTS® Model is a comprehensive, team based approach that was developed to support students with ASD in educational settings. It focuses on Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support, and is a framework and guide to directly address the core challenges presented by ASD. It is relevant for children from early stages of communication through the elementary school years and beyond.

Basic tenets of practice as well as practical strategies will be presented in this one-day introductory level presentation. Educators, including administrators, classroom teachers, support teachers, and special education assistants, as well as other professionals and parents will find this presentation relevant to their efforts to ensure success for students with ASD, and those with related special needs, in schools, at home, and in the community setting.
