Employment Experience: |
Since 2001, I have been the Behavior Coordinator for the Penticton Child Development Centre in Penticton, BC. My responsibilities include supervising the Autism Treatment Service program, including staff and parent training; and creating individualized programs for pre-school and school-aged children. From 1991 to 2001 I was employed by the Society for the Treatment of Autism in Calgary, Alberta. My responsibilities with the Society included (a) providing direct intervention services as a behavior interventionist for children over 6; (b) providing early intervention therapy for preschool-aged children; and (c) designing and implementing behavior programs for children in a variety of environments. I also supervised the early intervention program (I was the EI program classroom supervisor), which provided services to preschool children with autism and related disorders. |
Snapshot of Your Philosophy and Approach to Working with Individuals and Families with Autism |
| Our team offers individualized, child focused, family centered services. In consultation with families, we develop comprehensive programs that target specific skills in the areas of communication, socialization, cognition, daily living, and fine and gross motor ability. We use positive behavior support and applied behavior analysis to assist skill development and manage challenging behavior. Services are provided in a variety of environments as identified by the family. |
