Get Involved in Autism Research!

As a parent of a child with autism, getting involved in research is a great way to learn more about your child while contributing to the scientific understanding of autism. At the Autism & Developmental Disorders Lab at Simon Fraser University we are particularly interested in the social development of children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The goal of our research is to improve the social lives of children with ASD.

We are currently looking for youth between 11-18 years of age and their parents to participate in research studies on social competence. Some of these studies involve visiting our lab at the SFU Burnaby campus, while others may be completed online and over the phone (without coming into the lab).

Participants who are able to visit us at SFU will be scheduled at their convenience and are asked to come in for one 2 hour session (including breaks). During this time, parents will be asked questions about their child's development and social competence while the child/adolescent participates in computer and video based tasks assessing cognitive skills and their understanding of social situations. Parents will be provided with $40 travel reimbursement and the children/adolescents will be provided with a movie pass or Chapters gift card as compensation for their time.

If you are interested in participating or learning more about these studies, please contact the SFU Autism Lab:
